Removing Base Cabinet Half Shelf

Most half shelves are held in place with plastic clips and are easily removed. However, some cabinetmakers build the shelves in a fixed position. The following are tips in removing this fixed half shelf.

Step 1: Cut half shelf with saw as shown in Figure A and B on both sides of shelf as close as possible to sides of cabinet

Step 2: Apply pressure downward on center of shelf and break free as in Figure C. Remove any staples that may remain in sides and back of cabinet with pliers.
